“LIVING A TRANSFORMED LIFE – Pt. 2” (Rom. 13-16)

INTRO: Today we’re finishing our Romans series on “What’s So Good About The Good News?” We’re in the practical section of Romans, focusing on “Living a Transformed Life.”

I. TRANSFORMED PEOPLE WILLINGLY SUBMIT TO SECULAR AUTHORITY (Rom. 13:1-14).

  1. Submit to God by Submitting to Secular Authority (vv. 1–7).
    1. The concept of authority is from God (v. 1).
    2. Resisting authority is resisting God (v. 2).
    3. If you’re doing right, there’s nothing to fear (vv. 3-5).
    4. Pay taxes and show respect (vv. 6-7).
  2. Obey the Law of Love (vv. 8-10).
    1. Pay all your bills on time and pay your ongoing debt of loving one another (v. 8).Live Right (vv. 11-14).

    1. Don’t plan ways to indulge your flesh’s cravings (v. 14).

II.TRANSFORMED PEOPLE WALK IN UNITY (14:1-15:13).

  1. Don’t Condemn Others (Rom. 14:1–12).
    1. Give grace to others who have personal convictions different from yours, in areas where the Scriptures don’t give absolute standards (foods, holidays) (v. 1-5a).
    2. Develop godly standards and follow them as unto the Lord without disrespecting or judging others, being we will all answer to God (vv. 5b-12).
  2. Don’t Cause Others to Stumble (Rom. 14:13–23).
    1. Respect your personal convictions without pushing them on others (vv. 14, 22-23).
    2. Love will forgo personal freedoms for the sake of others (vv. 15-16, 20-21).
  3. Put Others First (Rom. 15:1–6).
  4. Receive One Another (Rom. 15:7–13).
