“Mighty Men of Valor”
Today is a day to build up the men of God!
John 10:10 The enemy of our soul, the thief comes for only one reason to steal, to kill and to destroy! He comes to steal your identity, to steal your honor, to steal your character, and to steal your integrity. The thief comes to cause you to feel you are not worth anything and that you can’t do right by your family. But Jesus came… John 10:10
Life – “the state of one who is possessed of vitality; life real and genuine; a life active and vigorous.”
Abundantly – “superabundant; excessive; over and above; something further; more than is necessary!”
Jesus came that we could have life that is full of vitality, that is real and genuine, that is active and vigorous, superabundant and more than we could have ever imagined!
Ordinary men who were called to extraordinary lives…
David – 1 Samuel 16
David’s position – He was the youngest of all his brothers. He was a sheep herder, a keeper of the sheep. He was a musician and a Psalmist. He had a strong faith in God, but was the most unlikely one of all of his brothers to be anointed king over Israel.
God chose David to be king. God spoke to the prophet Samuel. 1 Samuel 16:1b Samuel had the oldest of Jesse’s sons pass by him, Eliab. (v.6-7)
Jesse made 7 of his sons pass before Samuel. None of those sons were the one God had chosen. David (v.11-12)
The Prophet Samuel anointed David in front of all his brothers and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David! It was after he was anointed and the Spirit of the Lord came upon him that David then defeated Goliath!
Gideon – Judges 6
The Midianites were oppressing Israel (v.4-6)
Gideon threshing the wheat in the winepress because he was hiding from the Midianites. (v.11) While he was there an angel of the Lord came and sat under the tree by Gideon. (v.12) “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Gideon talks to the Angel of the Lord (v.13)
“Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” (v. 14) My family is the weakest in Manasseh and I am the least in my father’s house.” (v.15)
But Gideon asks for a sign (v.17-21) Fire came out of the rock and burned up the meat and bread! (v.22) Gideon perceived that He was the Angel of the Lord!
After Gideon destroys the altars that his father had built to Baal (v.34) the Spirit of the Lord came upon him.
God chose you!
God chooses for Himself those who see themselves as weak and poor, to do great exploits for Him.
Gideon was from the lowest of the low in his society and God chose him! David was the youngest in his family and God chose him! God chose you!
What is the vision God has given you? Do you feel you qualify for the vision? God looks at your heart. He doesn’t look at your status in life. He doesn’t look at how much money you do or don’t have. He doesn’t look at your physical features. He looks at your heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)
The Lord does not see as man sees. See = “to perceive; discern; distinguish.”
You are mighty men of valor!
Today is the day for you to be built up by the Spirit of God! Today is the day for you to be anointed again by the Spirit of the Lord! For His call on you to be refreshed and new again! 1 Corinthians 1:26-29
