We’ve been seeing that God declared Jericho (the first city Israel would conquer in the Promised Land) as “cherem” which means devoted to God or devoted [doomed] to destruction (Josh. 6:17). Jericho was the first fruits or tithe of the Promised Land (see Lev. 27:30, 32; Mal. 3:10-11).
Could it be that the tithe (10% of your income) is cherem? If so, what are the implications? Could it be that if we don’t tithe, the enemy will have the right to devour the tithe? Could it be that we either give the tithe to God or it will be devoured by the enemy?
Take some time to meditate on that!
