“Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;” (Heb. 12:15)
We’re exhorted to look carefully to make sure no root of bitterness springs up in our soul causing us trouble and defiling us. I encourage you to look carefully right now – is there a root of bitterness in your life? If so, repent of it, and ask God to remove it and yield to His work in your life. Protect yourself against bitterness and defilement! Periodically examine yourself with an open and humble heart. Notice that allowing a root of bitterness in our soul can cause us to fall short of the grace of God! Grace doesn’t excuse us from carnal living but empowers us to overcome carnality.
