”And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.” (Hebrews 11:15-16)
Those with an authentic faith put their eternal heavenly home over their temporal earthly home. They focus more on where they want to go than where they have come from. When we start focusing on our past, our past tempts us to return (familiarity, security, etc.). They kept their hope on their heavenly citizenship rather than earthly attainments. When we live by faith, God is pleased with us (v. 16) and is not ashamed to be called our God. God has prepared a city for them, and the same city for us – The New Jerusalem (Rev. 21-22:5)! Walk by faith. Nurture your faith. Keep growing your faith.
