“If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.” (Heb. 12:7-8)
God chastens (corrects, disciplines, trains, nurtures) those He loves and those He considers His children (Heb. 12:6). If God is chastening you, it means He loves you and accepts you as one of His children. To endure God’s chastening is to yield to it, knowing that it is for our benefit. When under the chastening of the Lord, avoid the temptation to compromise (or take shortcuts) in order to avoid or lessen the pain. The present pain of God’s chastening is far less that the future pain of resisting God’s chastening!
