“For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, … and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children– but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.” (Gal. 4:24-26)
Paul is telling us that living under the old covenant gives birth to bondage. Notice that he then said that this corresponds to Jerusalem which now is but is in bondage. So many Christians today are focused on earthly Jerusalem believing it is the key to what God is doing and will do in the future. However, notice that Paul tells us that it’s not the earthly Jerusalem we should be focusing on, which is in bondage, but we should be focused on Jerusalem above (Rev. 21), the heavenly Jerusalem. Upon which Jerusalem are you focused?
