Mark’s Memos

" Finding Place for Repentance "
March 5, 2026

“lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.” (Heb. 12:16-17)

This passage exhorts us to live a life free of fornication. Esau sold his birthright, a prized spiritual benefit, for a bowl of stew in an effort to try to satisfy a momentary carnal urge (Gen. 25:29-34; Gen. 27). As a result, Esau lost both the birthright and his father’s blessing. By this time Esau was beyond repentance.

Notice that sin always promises more than it delivers. Sin always charges more than the initial price tag – in other words, there are always hidden fees. Is there any sin you need to repent of today? Will you find a place for repentance rather than giving in to momentary carnal urges?
