”See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,” (Heb. 12:25)
God is speaking to us, and we should make sure we are not refusing to listen and obey. The primary way God speaks to us is through His Word. God can’t speak to us through His Word if we’re not reading His Word. God can also speak to us through the Holy Spirit, our circumstances and other people. There are severe consequences for turning away from the voice of God. A generation of Old Testament Israelites failed to enter the Promised Land because they didn’t heed God’s voice. Many of the Jews in Jesus’ day failed to hear God’s voice through Jesus while He was on the earth, and as a result suffered severe consequences (the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple). Are you hearing the voice of the Lord? Are you obeying the voice of the Lord?
