Last week we saw that in Matthew 2:1-16 the wisemen civilly disobeyed a governing authority. They submitted to a higher authority – God, who had told them not to obey Herod. Are there other examples of civil disobedience in the Bible?
Shadrach, Meshach & Abed-Nego civilly disobeyed King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 3. King Neb. issued a government mandate (executive order) for everyone to bow to an image he had made. They refused to bow and were thrown into a fiery furnace. God protected them. They believed God would protect them but were ready to die if not.
What will you do if you’re commanded to bow to ungodly mandates and orders?
