“See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers– … to give to them and their descendants after them.’” (Deut. 1:8)
God told the Israelites to go in and possess the land that He had promised to give them. Notice that even though God promised to give them the land, they had to do their part. They had to go in and possess the land.
