When the kings of the Amorites & Canaanites heard that the Lord had dried up the Jordan River: “… their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel.” (Josh. 5:1)
It’s time the church has this kind of influence on the world! What will it take for that to happen? God then told Joshua to circumcise the men because circumcision was a sign of Israel’s covenant with God in the Old Testament, and the current generation of Israelite men hadn’t yet been circumcised (vv. 2-12).
Under the new covenant, circumcision is of the heart, not the flesh (Rom. 2:25-29; Phil. 3:3). Circumcision of the heart is putting off the sins of the flesh by identifying with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (Col. 2:11-12).
Do you need a fresh circumcision of your heart?
