“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)
We’re called to be concerned about the interests of others. We won’t do this if we’re too self-absorbed in our own world. Perhaps life will go better when we take some of the focus off our own interests and consider others. This requires humility and compassion. We’re called to treat others better than ourselves. That doesn’t mean others are more important than us, just that we’re to treat them as such.
