Mark’s Memos

" Don’t Make Treaties with the Enemy "
August 24, 2023

“… but they did not seek the counsel of the Lord.” (Josh. 9:14)

The people of Gibeon heard what the people of God had done to Jericho and Ai, so they pretended they had come from a faraway country to deceive the Israelites to entering into a covenant with them, which the Israelites did (Josh. 9). The Israelites were deceived because they did not seek the counsel of the Lord. They leaned on their own logic and reasoning. This eventually cost them.

Don’t make treaties with the enemy! Making treaties with the enemy will siphon off your resources and get your focus off your destiny – off what God has told you to do (Josh. 10:6-7).

Don’t lean on your own understanding (Prov. 3:5-6). Seek the counsel of the Lord, follow His leading and life will go much better!
