“For whoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.” (1John 5:4)
Our culture teaches us to play the victim card instead of accepting responsibility for our lives. You can’t be the victim and be a victor at the same time – the choice is yours. Which will you choose? Playing the victim card is blaming others for your problems while looking to others as your source. Playing the victim card becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, because “as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7).
You can’t choose all your circumstances, but you can choose how you will respond. You can’t choose how others will treat you, but you can choose how you will respond. Responsibility is the ability to choose your response. Those who play the victim card have life act on them, while overcomers act on life.
If you’re born of God, you overcome the world through your faith. Are you a victim or an overcomer? The choice is yours. Nobody can make that choice for you, and nobody can keep you from making that choice!
