" Should Christians Ever Civilly Disobey – Pt. 4? "
March 31, 2022

We’ve looked at three examples in Scripture of God’s people civilly disobeying governing authorities (see previous posts). Today we’ll look at a fourth example where people of God civilly disobeyed.

In Acts 4 some of the apostles were arrested for preaching in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. The next day they were brought before the authorities and interrogated. Peter & John preached the gospel to them. They commanded the apostles not to speak nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter & John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:19-20) …and they spoke the word of God with boldness. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection to the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. (Acts 4:31,33)

What will the church do today when commanded not to speak nor teach in the name of Jesus? What will you do?
