Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” (Ex. 13:17)
When God’s people got out of Egypt and God began leading them towards the Promised Land, He led them the long way around. Why? Because God knew that when they faced opposition (the Philistines) they would want to go back to Egypt. Would you rather get to the Promised Land in 40 days or 40 years?
Let’s not cower in fear when facing opposition, but trust and obey God! Don’t make God take you the long way around!
